I love photography and bought myself a Canon EOS XSi (450D) last year from amazon.fr. How I wished I had waited as Canon are on the brink of launching their brand new successor to it, the Canon EOS T1i (500D), which is out very soon (early May 2009).

The XSi is a fantastic camera for the price and really builds the bridge between amateur photographer and professional photographer well. I didn’t think they could improve on it to be honest.

But they have. Oh, how well they have.

The EOS T1i delivers so much for its price. Canon have incorporated many features found in the EOS 5d Mk II (which typically costs well over $2500) and packed it into the body of the T1i. And guess what? The dimensions are exactly the same as the XSi before it (save the weight being 5g heavier).

So what does the T1i have over the XSi?

The T1i has 15.1 mega pixels (compared to just 12.2).

More advanced DIGIC 4 processor (compared with the DIGIC III on the XSi).

The ISO range is expandable to 12,800 compared with just 1600.

Video shooting mode – you can use it as a video camera, shooting up to 12 minutes (or 4gb) of full HD video!

HDMI connection for viewing and playback on HDTV.

One really unique feature that interests me greatly is that the T1i has a great feature for beginners – the auto creative zone. When set to one of these zones, the camera will guide you as to what settings to use via the LCD. Basically, the auto creative mode is like having a teacher built in! I am tempted to trade in my old XSi and buy the T1i just for this feature alone!

Many of the other standard features of Canon cameras are still there, like live view, self cleaner sensors, dust delete and so on and storage is on SD or SDHC cards.

Summary:

I am looking forward to the release of this camera in early May and will have to talk my wife into allowing me to upgrade from my existing XSi. This really looks like a cracking camera.

It looks like Canon has again made a great leap and incorporated so many new technologies into such a small body and low price. I can’t think of what they will do next, although wi-fi transfers and printing would be good. Need a fast connection as the highest quality RAW images are going to be well in excess of 20mb.

As I said above, the XSi looked to have bridged the gap between amateur and professional, but the T1i seems to beat that by including a built in tutor! There is nothing worse than being out on the field after reading something, but when you need that info, you have forgotten. The T1i will prompt you with it’s auto creative mode. I would love my XSi to be able to do that.

Perhaps they will also incorporate a mobile phone into the camera as well! Who knows, stranger things have happened!

The Canon Power shot SD1100 IS provides an 8 mega pixel shot, which translates to a stunningly beautiful picture on even the most advanced monitors. Users who care about style will note the different metallic colors it comes in, and those who suffer from shaky hands (much like myself) will marvel at its ability to auto correct. Pictures that should not have any right turning out steady and even seem to with ease, and the camera is just as fast as the commercials portray it to be, leaving no time for people to develop funny faces.

The Basics

The 1100 IS isn’t what you might expect in a camera. Sleek styling and sound construction mean this camera fits in your pocket or purse with room to spare.

Don’t be fooled. The 1100 IS offers 8 megapixels, instead of the older 7.1, to give you the absolute best quality for a camera this size. This means, the pictures you take will turn out crisp, clear, and bright.

Navigation is intuitive using a toggle wheel. You will be an expert at it after a few uses. In addition easy presets make it a simple point and shoot.

If you want to take custom ISO photos, change detailed flash settings and shutter timings this camera may not be for you. If you want easy to use, fast to be ready point and shoot then this is the camera for teh job.

Ease of Use

Most people want to pick up their digital, aim, and shoot. Everything after that is icing on the cake. And with the 11OO IS, you can do just that.

Just a button press or two will get you where you need to be, and even those who aren’t familiar or comfortable using technology will be able to master this camera.

The buttons to navigate are all on the right side, so if you’re left handed, you’ll have a bit to get used to. But with the menu and selection buttons big enough for larger hands and easy to press, it doesn’t make it hard to adjust.

Long Term Quality and Durability

This isn’t the sort of camera that you’ll need to replace in a year, we were pleased to discover. The camera’s small design does not mean it is not durable and easy to hold.

Image Quality

You’ll get surprisingly good quality from this little camera, and the zoom (3x) gives you a decent bit of depth and clarity from such a small piece.

The face detection that’s built in improves the focus and exposure when taking pictures of people, as well as a white balance and flash output. What this means to those of you who didn’t follow is that you’re less likely to make your friends look sheet-white when using flash. Vibrant colors and great details, with fairly correct skin tones.

Overall

The bottom line on this camera is that for everyday, casual use, it’s great – and even amateurs who dapple in heavier things can appreciate the preset features and quality that you get.

While I will still recommend a serious SLR camera for those looking to become professional, this camera will help you improve your skill and capture great moments forever.

If you are intending to do any kind of pay per click advertising on the internet, you will probably mainly deal with the “Big 3″ search engines – Google, Yahoo and Microsoft (MSN). All 3 have fairly similar business models and all work in roughly the same manner. There are however some differences the user should be aware of. One example is how keyword match types have certain differences from Search Network to Search Network.

As a search engine advertiser, it’s vitally important for you to know exactly when your ad is going to be displayed. The match type determines whether your ad will be displayed to the user on the basis of how the search query matches your keyword.

As an example, lets say you are promoting a website dealing with digital photography, and one of your key words is “Canon digital camera”

EXACT MATCH

Google:

Exact match in Google will only match the EXACT text and nothing else. Any words before, after, in between or the phrase with words re-arranged will not count. It will only match if “Canon digital camera” is typed in as a search query. “Canon digital cameras” or “Buy Canon digital camera” will not trigger an exact match.

MSN:

Almost identical to Google, but they ignore words like a, an, the etc. Which means that “a Canon digital camera” is considered the same as “Canon digital camera”, and is therefore an exact match

Yahoo:

Yahoo have what they term as Standard Match. It not only matches the exact phrase but also includes singular/plural, common misspellings and alternative spellings. The following would all trigger Standard match in Yahoo:

“Canon digital camera”

“Canon digital cameras”

“Cannon digital camera”

PHRASE MATCH

Google:

The ad will be triggered in phrase match any time there is a search query that includes your keywords using the same word order. This means that the phrase “Canon digital camera” must appear somewhere in the user’s query. The search can include words before or after your keyword, but not between them. For example

“buy Canon digital camera”

“Canon digital camera on sale”

will both trigger the keyword as a phrase match.

MSN:

The same as Google

Yahoo:

No phrase option is offered with Yahoo search marketing.

BROAD MATCH

Google:

The ad will be displayed any time somebody types in a search query that includes the keywords, regardless of the actual word order. This means there could be additional words in front of, behind, or even in between your original keyword phrase.

There is also some light synonym matching. For example, the following might all trigger the keyphrase “Canon digital camera” on Broad match:

“Used Canon Camera”

“Compare digital camera Nikon and Canon”

“Canon Powershot SD750″

MSN:

Very similar to Google will but will only trigger a search query that includes all of the words. There is also some light synonym matching. Generally not as broad as Google.

Yahoo:

In yahoo it is known as Advanced match and will be triggered by any query that contains all of the words, plus singular/plural, misspellings and synonyms.

It is important to note that in all the search marketing systems, Broad and Advanced are the DEFAULT type of search matches. So be careful as they may not be specific enough to target the market you are trying to reach.

NEGATIVE MATCH

Google:

These are words that block unwanted searches that you believe may not be relevant to what you are offering. For example, if your ad deals with only new cameras you might want to exclude buyers who are looking for used cameras from clicking. So if you include “second hand” as a negative, if a person types in “second hand Canon camera” your ad would not show up.

MSN:

The same as Google

Yahoo:

Known as Excluded Match, is very similar to Google and MSN but singulars and plurals are considered equivalent. For example, if you wanted to exclude people searching for camera lenses, you could put “lens” as an excluded word and the query “Canon digital camera lenses” would not trigger your ad.

Match types play an important role in determining which ads will be displayed for the specific selected keywords. When setting up an ad campaign, try to envision how each match type will affect your keywords. You also need to anticipate keyword variations that may result in unwanted visitors clicking on your ad so that you can filter out non-profitable traffic.

Clubgoers dancing at a Foam Party. The blue object on the ceiling is a foam generator.

A foam party is a social event in which participants dance to music on a dance floor covered in several feet of suds or bubbles dispensed from a foam machine. For safety reasons, the foam is generated from non-toxic, non-staining, hypo-allergenic solutions[citation needed].

Participants may wear bathing suits or beach attire, snorkeling goggles, sunglasses, and shower caps. Many participants arrive fully clothed, and some then partially disrobe as the party progresses, while others remain fully clothed.

Generally, foam parties occur at nightclubs, dance clubs, or private parties.

Safety issues

Household soaps and detergents are generally not used for foam parties; they are not pH-neutral, may contain protein-dissolving enzymes, and can cause alkaline chemical burns or irritation to the eyes and respiratory system[citation needed].

There have been several reports in the media of severe allergic skin or eye reactions to party foam, but in almost all cases this has been the result of inexperienced operators using dish washing liquids instead of non-irritating foam[citation needed]. Participants with allergies to soap should either wear appropriate protective clothing such as a dental mask and Tyvek coveralls, or avoid contact with the foam entirely. Sore throats have also commonly been reported, but it is not known if the exact cause is the foam itself.

Foam can also conduct electricity; thus, there are safety concerns with regards to electrical equipment[citation needed]. Nightclubs often contain environmental lighting, sound equipment, speakers, and other electronics that could potentially malfunction.

On July 23, 2008, at 11:30 p.m., a foam party at the Venezia Palace Hotel in Antalya, Turkey, ended in the deaths of 2 tourists from Israel and one Turkish citizen, as a result of electrocution. The tourists were brothers Shai and Nir Hachim, aged 18 and 14 respectively, of Holon, Israel.

One common method of protection is the use of a ground fault interrupter on devices that could come in contact with the foam. Visitors of foam parties also may attempt to protect personal electronic devices like cameras and mobile phones from the foam.

Because foam parties create a wet, slippery, and disorienting environment, glass bottles and beverage glasses may be restricted by the venue and replaced with plastic cups. This reduces the risk of participants being injured by a broken bottle or glass. In some municipalities, special licenses are required for the club prior to a foam party being held and some clubs require attendees to sign a liability waiver before entering[citation needed].

Another issue that can occur at foam parties is groping, when the dancers are partially disrobed on the foam-covered dance floor.

A nightclub patron enjoys the atmosphere at a Foam Party.

Foam generation

Generating hundreds of cubic meters of foam in a club environment is difficult because foam breaks down rapidly after it is generated; breakdown is greatly accelerated by heat from club lights, air flow, and people moving through the foam. The event shown in the photos above lasted four hours and was held on a dance floor measuring 10m x 15m. It requires three foam generators, approximately 80 liters of foam concentrate, and over 500 liters of water to keep this size of dance floor filled with foam for the evening[citation needed].

Foam concentrate is diluted with water in a 150 liter plastic garbage can or 220 liter drum and pumped to the foam generator, which is usually suspended from the ceiling. Then it is sprayed on to the fabric bag. By adjusting the air volume from the blower, solution flow, and thread-count of the bag’s fabric, different foam consistencies can be achieved, ranging from a thick shaving cream texture to large bubbles. The distribution of foam can range from a blizzard-like effect of small bubbles to a thick mass of bubbles.

Some club operators have used commercial foam cannons capable of shooting jets of foam over 10 meters – either at people in the crowd, or up in the air. Foam cannons have been used for a long time in firefighting and crowd control, but have recently been used for mass decontamination (with MDF200 decon foam)[citation needed]. The use of foam cannons in clubs has been limited by high cost and the need for a source of high-volume high-pressure air to launch the foam.

Club patrons dancing at a four-hour Foam Party.

History

Foam parties on film can be dated back to “A Rhapsody in Black and Blue” (1932) 5 where Louis Armstrong can be seen dancing, singing and playing his trumpet in a large area of soap…(and so on) To get More information , you can visit some products about merry christmas santa, pearl hair ornaments, . While trying to import movie files using JVC, Panasonic and Cannon into iMovie on Mac, we usually came across the problem of trying to read the video files which are in some format .MOD.

iMovie incompatible Camcorder Problems

Problem 1: I bought a JVC Everio camcorder that use hard disk media to record video files. The camera stores the video in a .MOD file in an MPEG-2 format. When I import .MOD hard disk files into iMovie, it just can’t work.

Problem 2: In windows, you can just change the extension to .mpg and that would possible make it work most of the time. But now you try that on Mac and it doesn’t work.

Problem 3: i can play the .mod files in iMovie but they are giant files, any way to slightly compress without losing a ton of quality?

Knowledge Center:

Due to the wide range of media types, and the different ways manufacturers store video on these media types, not all tape less camcorders are compatible with iMovie, which can’t access the camera directly to import the video files in .MOD, what’s worse Quicktime Pro doesn’t even understand the MPEG-2 format.

Solution:

iMovie only recognizes a privileged few video formats like DV, HDV, MPEG-4 and MPEG-2, etc. Apparently, the attempts to directly import .mod into iMovie would be to avail in most of the case. What we need to do is to use video converter for Mac, a professional and excellent third party video converter application, to convert .mod to DV, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 as iMovie compatible formats. It will be then an easy thing for you to import mod to iMovie

The world of Canon multifunction printer has become a household name seeing that many people all over the world use them for various office and administrative duties and not just for printing documents from their computers. Printers are no longer just printers but do much more and have become much more interactive. Cannon being the biggest brand, are just one well known company to have taken the printer further, incorporating a scanner, fax, photocopier and photo printer.

Seeing as many people prefer to use their own digital camera to take pictures, it is no wonder that most printers come with a feature that allows for photo printing as long as the user prints on proper photo quality cards or paper. Gone are the days of using a wind up camera and going to the printers to have them developed. People find it much simpler to use an SD card from their digital camera and store them onto their PCs.

Canon did not always produce their own Canon multifunction printer for home and office use. Canon was in fact a company that developed lenses for photography equipment. The company was established in 1933 by Goro Yoshida and Saburo Uchida, where the company was first names the Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory. At the start of the company’s growth the goal was to produce and develop 35mm camera, which followed on with the development of the Kwanon camera. However the camera never managed to hit the market.

Canon began using the Nippon lens as they were unable to develop their own, which then saw the development of the first Hansa Canon in 1936 to the public. A year after that Canon was born and has since stayed as Canon. The birth of the new Canon company lead to a myriad of developments and creations namely that of photography, printing equipment, copiers and cameras. Currently Canon has worked on projects that include digital photography and printing.

As printers are something every household or office needs that it is something that people have become accustomed to seeing as being part of a computer. Canon has stretched their developments into producing print engines that are used in a lot of Hewlett Packard products such as the LaserJet printer. Canon have also been successful in working on new projects such as projection displays, keeping up with changing technology and incorporating new and effective features that have been seen in a lot of the newer products on the market.

Microphones have undergone a lot of changes over the years. Some designs stayed and others became a part of vintage microphones. Microphone, popularly known as mike or mic, is one of the primary elements in an audio or music system.

The main job of the mic is to convert sound into an electrical signal. It has a large number of applications as in music production system, telephone, hearing aid, motion picture production, etc.

Earlier, microphones were known as transmitters. In 1978, Thomas Alva Edison made the first commercial microphone. It was a type of carbon microphone. Later, in Bell Laboratories in 1962, a new type of capacitor microphone was invented.

There were a number of microphones which have made their marks over the last few decades. Some of the names went on to create history but now they are a part of the vintage microphones.

-Altec model 647

-American model D76

-RCA KB-1A, MI-11000

-RCA KN-3A, MI-3045

-RCA carbon type 1

-RCA model BK-7, MI-11016

-Amperite model R80L

-Bruno labs RV-3

-General Electric or Westinghouse carbon or condenser microphones

-Remler, Turner, or Jenkins-Adair condenser microphones

-Western Electric carbon transmitter model 369

-Western Electric condenser housing model 9-A

-Turner model 51D

-Western Electric carbon transmitter model 273

The History & Development of Vintage Microphones

The early 1930s saw the movie industry trying out new technology to record musical scores. However, the range of microphones offered was low. In came the MGM Studios, in Culver City, CA, to try out the newly invented cardioid mic made by the Siemens Co, Germany. It was used to make “Naughty Marietta” with the likes of Jeanette McDonald and Nelson Eddy.

Dynamic or condenser microphones were much smaller in size than the Siemens’ version of the cardioid mic. There was a constant effort made to reduce the size of the microphones to facilitate its use.

James Cannon of Cannon Electric Co. in Los Angeles, CA, was told to build up a connector for the mic. His creation was a 6 pin connector which later on became the prototype of P-type connector, which turned out to be an instantaneous success. 3 conductor connector for camera cable was made then which put Cannon plug to history from 1929 onwards.

Mason and Marshall of the Bell Laboratories made a blueprint of a tubular microphone in 1939. The design was such that it utilized a single element and acoustical tubes of different sizes. It helped in the pickup of directional music. The tubular design was the forerunner of the modern day mics.

Electret condenser microphone is a part of the vintage microphones as it has a history dating back to 1928. It used polarized wax plates. Bogen offered this type commercially under the name Voltage Velotron. The WWII saw the development of wax electret mikes. The Japanese used it in their field devices. However, they did not become very popular due to their instability.

In 1962-1965 the electret mics got their diaphragm made of a metalized thin foil of mylar or teflon. Sony, in 1968, created the then finest electret condenser microphone. That too has now moved into vintage microphones.

Wedding videography is a skill and an art.  It’s an imperative part of a wedding as it is meant to capture the feelings and emotions of your special day.  Here are some things to look for in a professional videographer.

Make sure the wedding videographer fits your personality and style.  There are many videographers out there and they all have their own style.  As you watch sample videos on websites or demos, check to see if the photographer is versatile.  If the videographer always does the same style of wedding video, they aren’t adjusting to the bride and grooms personalities.  A good videographer will get to know the bride and groom before doing their wedding video.

Find out if the videographer is up to date on the the cameras he or she is using.  Typically videographers will have professional cameras from Panasonic, Cannon, or Sony.  Most of the cameras on a professional scale will be adequate.  They typically record in DVD quality formats all the way to HD formats.  Decide what quality you want.  The DVD quality is usually more than enough, but for those hi-tech brides HD is a must.  Expect to pay more for an HD wedding videographer because the equipment is more expensive, and the footage will take longer to edit.  Also find out how many cameras the videographer will be using.  A good videographer will have a camera on a tripod to capture the ceremony and important events at the wedding, and a shoulder mounted camera for moving and more dynamic shots.

Ask for testimonials.  Good videographers will always have records of past client’s feedback.  Ask your videographer for some testimonials and they should be happy to comply.  A professional videographer is always proud of their work and they don’t mind showing you that others agree.  A good testimonial will give you an idea of the videographer’s experience and quality

Ask about prior work experience.  Some videographers start out doing videos as a hobby and then evolve into wedding videos as time goes on.  Others will be trained by Professional companies in the area and will break off to do their own thing as time progresses.  Experience is important and if the videographer has worked for another wedding company before, they often bring more to the table as a videographer.  Find out about your videographer.  Find out where they have worked.  A Phoenix wedding video is going to be different than a Montana wedding.  Phoenix is bright, dry and warm and Montana can be a different story.  If you are hiring an out of state videographer just make sure they have worked in various places and climates.

Visit a videographer’s blog.  Typically blogs are a little more personal and will give you an idea of what your videographer is more about.  Blogs will feature some of the latest weddings and wedding videos the videographer has done and will give you an idea of the personality of your videographer.

The most important thing to remember before deciding on a professional to do your wedding video is that the videographer is the type of person who will care about you.  If they are the type of person to care, they will make a video that fits you and will reflect your personality.  Videography is an art, but at the end of the day it is what is going to document possibly the most important day of your life.
